  • Resorcional: This ingredient effectively treats small acne. Sometimes, a combination of sulfur and resorcional is used in many anti-acne products.
  • Sulfur: For over 50 years, sulfur is used with other ingredients like salicylic acid, resorcinol and alcohol in many anti cane products and medications. Sulfur is characterized by strong odor, hence it is not used alone for acne treatment.
  • Alcohol: Another active and commonly used ingredient in acne lotions is alcohol. This ingredients is used in most of the anti- acne products. It works effectively in preventing acne, when it is used in small quantity. For treating mild and moderate types of acne alcohol is best. However, use of alcohol in large amount might give rise to other skin problems.
  • Tretinoin and adapalene: These are other active ingredients that are used in acne lotions. One must consult a dermatologists before the lotion is applied. This ingredient is known to cause allergies and skin reactions,especially to the sensitive skin.

These are the main ingredients used in acne lotions. Sometimes, you can find lotions that are combined with these ingredients, so that the efficiency of the creams are increased.
