Acne is one such skin problem, suffered by almost everyone at least once in their lifetime. What Causes Acne
One of the most common myths about causes of acne is oily food. However, in the recent years, studies have shown that oily food has little to do with causing acne. Hormonal changes: 90% of acne occurs at puberty because of hormonal changes. In this stage, the body produces androgen hormones so that sebaceous gland enlarges. This development is natural part in the development of body. When androgen over stimulates this gland, the skin suffers from acne. Sometimes, for many people this acne problem continues till their adulthood. During pregnancy and menstrual cycle the secretion of androgen hormones also occurs and acne comes over the skin.
Hereditary factors: There are family histories of many individual who suffer from acne problems. Thus, there are chances that these genes might carry this factor to next generation and cause acne.
Follicle fallout: After the cells are dead they shed in follicle and expelled over the surface of the skin. But during puberty and in many individuals the sebaceous glands are over reactive. The dead cells tend to shed off more rapidly of follicle. Thus, with extra sebum inside follicle and dead cell, the skin is prevented from its natural renewal process. This results in acne.
Environmental factors: Change in equilibrium of Mother Nature is also known in contributing to acne problems. Pollution is one of the major causes of acne. Pollution also contributes in changing environment and making it extreme. The issue of global warming is one such instance. Thus, excessive humid and hot conditions causes skin problems like acne.
Medicinal side effects: Medicines are important weapon in combating any illness, but also causes many side effects. This is because, certain components of the medicine fails to suit with the body and the body suffers from side effects. Sometimes, certain medicines also contribute to excessive hormone secretion that results in causing acne.
Inflammation: Whenever any unwanted or harmful bacterial attacks the body, the white blood cells fight it back. This process is defined as chemotaxis. In common man’s language it is inflammatory response of the body. This gives rise to red, painful and swollen pimples. This kind of response varies from person to person.
Oily makeup: Oily or excess makeup closes the pores of the skin and prevents them from berating freely. With clogged pores, unwanted oils get accumulated and acne comes out over the surface of the skin.
