Fennel Oil

The name has been derived from the Latin word “foenum,” meaning “hay”. What in the middle ages was known as “fenkle,” has been used by many ancient civilizations for therapeutic purposes. Fennel was used by the Egyptians, Romans and Chinese for treating snake bites and killing fleas in dogs. It was also believed that the herb was beneficial in improving your eyesight. Oil is extracted from the crushed seeds of the foeniculum vulgareby by steam distillation process. The oil used for aromatherapy is sweet fennel oil. Bitter fennel oil is not used in aromatherapy.

Uses of Fennel Oil
