These are real summer skin problems! You can have it all: dryness, heat rashes, and everything. But there are solutions.
Indian summers can be quite harsh. You may be tempted to stay in your home due to the rising temperature. But, alas! It is inevitable that summer heat and the associated skin problems and infections will be scorching. It is a common saying that stitching in time saves nine, so we should start learning about the most common skin problems during summer and how to prevent them.
Common summer skin problems
Hot and humid weather is not conducive to glowing, healthy skin. These are some common problems and their solutions.
Acne breakouts
Sweat from your skin can mix with bacteria, oil, and clog pores. This causes breakouts. Those with acne-prone and oily skin will experience more flight during the summer heat.
Solution Always removes sweat from your skin using a towel or a clean cloth. Use a cleanser containing salicylic acid, non-comedogenic skin care products and makeup products to reduce oil production and help clear acne.
Dry, irritated skin
The skin can become dry and itchy even though the environment is hot and humid. Dry skin is a common problem in summer. Excessive skin exposure to the sun, pool water and air conditioning over long periods is the main cause.
Solution Use a mild cleanser to clean your skin. After every bath or shower, apply a fragrance-free moisturizing lotion to the skin.
Folliculitis
A follicle is the opening in the skin where hair grows. Folliculitis is when the skin becomes contaminated by bacteria or dirt. Itchy and tender, it looks like a small pimple on the outer skin layer. This is a common summer skin problem that can be easily treated. It’s a good idea to wear light, loose-fitting clothing when hot or humid.
Solution Avoid hot tubs or pools with high levels of chlorine and acid. Many people develop hot tub folliculitis during summer.
Sun allergy
Itchy skin can result from being exposed to the sun. Certain medications, such as doxycycline or ketoprofen, can trigger these rashes. Sun allergy can cause red, itchy bumps on bare skin.
Solution: Sun protection is the best way to protect your skin. Wear sun-protective clothing and good protective sunscreen.
Heat rash
Blocked sweat glands can cause heat rashes. The sweat cannot escape the blocked glands, and it builds up under the skin, causing itchy bumps and a rash. Many people feel a tingling sensation on their skin when the spots burst.
Solution Many dermatologists recommend wearing lightweight, loose-fitting cotton clothing, wiping off sweat, and taking a hot bath after sweating.
