What skin benefits can rice water provide?
Rice water is rich in amino acids, carbohydrates, and proteins. Research has also shown that it contains antioxidants. Antioxidants are used in skincare to protect skin from environmental aggressors, such as pollutants. Are there traces of rice water in the water? Is it enough for skin benefits? Research needs to be improved, just as it is with hair. Jane Mayhead, a trichologist at the Private Clinic, told R29 recently that rice water has not been independently studied and any benefits to the skin may only be anecdotal.
TikTok aestheticians do not hate rice water. A licensed aesthetician and surgical nurse responded to Ava’s rice water facial video. She wrote, “Rice Water is good for the skin.” Unlike DIY hacks like pore removal or chemical Peels that use high-strength acids purchased online, it’s not harmful to the skin and won’t harm it. Rice water is also helpful in hydrating skin and removing excess oils, according to the pro. The appearance of pores will be improved.
How to make TikTok viral rice water facial Toner at home?
This is something I had to try. I have a combination of oily skin and was eager to see if it worked. It’s also simple compared to some other hacks. (Looking at frozen lip balm facial roller …)
I quickly rinsed half a cup of white rice in a sieve. The rice was then placed in a large bowl and filled with filtered distilled water. This is the same water I would use to wash my face. I let the rice soak in water for four hours until it became milky or cloudy. This was to ensure that the rice had absorbed the nutrients. I sieved the rice and decanted the half remaining water in a spray bottle. The rest was placed in a bowl of cold water. I used some water as a toner and the remainder with cotton pads to create a relaxing, cooling facial.
Rice water has no smell. This may be a small surprise. Although my skin doesn’t like strong fragrances, I still wanted to add some scent to my toner. I added a drop of essential oils, which gave it a wonderful smell. After cleansing off my makeup, I spritzed the toner on my face and followed it with my trusted moisturizer, Oskia Rest Day Comfort Cream, PS56. This product alone makes my skin look and feel radiant. Thanks to the moisturizing ceramides. But when combined with the silky-smooth toner, my skin feels supple and more bouncy. This is true for all facial toners. They help to prime the skin and absorb skincare products better.
The facial. Then, I placed four cotton rounds on my cheeks and forehead. This mini heatwave’s cooling sensation was welcome, but the mattifying effects were even more impressive. I was impressed with the results. My skin felt and looked matte but not stripped. This is usually when DIY face masks made from kitchen ingredients are used. If you aren’t convinced, I only use one element to reduce oil effectively: Niacinamide. I use Theordinary’s Niacinamide Powder (PS4.90) mixed with moisturizer.
