THE ESSENTIAL STEPS OF A PEDICURE

Pedicures are the most sought-after beauty treatment in salons and spas. Who doesn’t love to have their feet massaged by a skilled esthetician? Pedi’s are great for your skin and will leave you feeling your best. There are many types of pedicures, each with different steps. But these are the basics that all pedicures have in common. Please note that the order of these steps can change depending on where and what kind of Pedicure Services Calgary you receive.

Remove nail polish

Although it may seem obvious, many people forget to take off any nail polish before beginning a pedicure. To remove all nail polish, use a cotton ball and an acetone polish removal product. Avoid putting too much acetone on your skin and cuticles. It can dry out your skin. You are now ready to have fun with the acetone.

Soak your feet

Warm water can be added to a bowl, basin, or foot spa. You should use a bowl you can place both your feet in at once. Add soothing scents to the bowl after you have filled it with warm water. You can add a bubble bath mix or Epsom salts to enhance the experience. Commercial foot soaks that are specifically designed for pedicures may also be available. After you have mixed all the ingredients, you can dip your feet into the water and then relax for about 10 minutes. Soaking your feet in warm water softens the cuticles and makes it easier to remove them.

Take care of your cuticles

The next step will require either an orangewood or cuticle stick, which can be purchased at your local beauty supply shop. Dry one of your feet. Apply cuticle oil to the nails and massage gently. Use your cuticle stick to gently push the dead skin off. After you are done, apply a bit more cuticle oil to your feet and continue the process on the next foot. While you can have your cuticles cut by salons or spas, this is not something that should be done at home. Untrained people could inflict severe injury or even infection by cutting their own cuticles.

Exfoliate

This is where you’ll work to soften those calluses and make them easier to manage in the next step. The exfoliation process helps remove dead skin from your feet, allowing for healthier and more radiant skin. You can either choose to make your own exfoliating foot scrubs or experiment with a variety of existing products. Once you’re ready, use your scrub to massage one foot for about 2-3 minutes. Then, return the scrub to the bowl and exfoliate your next foot. Before moving on, rinse off any excess foot scrub.

Calluses can be treated

You can treat calluses with either callus stones or foot file. File the area of the foot that has the most calluses. These tools are meant to smoothen the skin, not remove it. Calhouns are a protective layer on our feet. Their removal can cause painful blistering. If you feel that smoothing out calluses is causing pain, it’s time to stop.

Trim and file nails

Clip your nails straight across. Then, use your file to create the desired shape. You can risk ingrown nails if you don’t trim too closely. If you want to file your nails, choose a square shape with rounded edges. This will prevent ingrown nails.

Massage Feet/Moisturize

It’s been a long day. Take a break, soak your feet and relax. Massage your feet with your favorite moisturizer. Now you are almost done!

Polish your feet/Let them dry

Apply polish to your toes using a cotton ball. Toe separators make application much easier. However, if you don’t have them, it’s no problem. Apply a base coat, wait for a few minutes, then apply your color coat. You can add another color coat or complete your pedicure by applying the final top coat. Do not attempt to dry your feet artificially with a hair dryer, or any other method. Your pedicure is complete when you’re done relaxing for about 15-20 minutes. A pedicure is something you can do for yourself.
